Sims is undoubtedly one of the UKs finest techno exports, having developed a 15+year career at the cutting edge of machine music. Whether a brutally engaging DJ, a remixer for the likes of Mills, Green Velvet and Liebing or as a collaborator of Surgeon, Paul Mac and Mark Broom, Sims rarely puts a foot wrong and this release is no different.
The aptly titled Hypnosis centres around a nagging staccato riff atop an unrelenting groove riddled with sharp rides and carefully place drops. Uncomplicated machine music is the order of the day and Sims does it perfectly.
A tom-heavy 909 drum track provides the basis for flipside Psykosis and the ebb and flow of its mechanical, metallic synth riff which snakes throughout the mix.
